Located in New Jersey, Princeton University was founded in 1746. It is the fourth-oldest institution of higher education in the United States. It was originally called the College of New Jersey. Princeton's founders decided to establish the school after Harvard and Yale opposed to the Great Awakening. The school’s name was changed to Princeton University in 1896, and its graduate school was opened in 1900.
